Experience an introduction to in-depth study of a single work of art. Topics across disciplines intersect through the exploration of this work of art. As an example for this workshop, we will examine a well-known portrait of a mother and child from 17th century Boston. A study of one exemplary work will lead students down many avenues of exploration, with opportunities for interdisciplinary and differential learning. A variety of concepts using a range of teaching modalities, including project-based learning, will be discussed. A work of art in any medium (visual art, music, literature, etc.) can be employed for this Arts Immersion Approach. All educators are welcome.
