Schedule:
  • 7:30 a.m. Continental Breakfast
  • 8:00 a.m. Sessions followed by 10:05 a.m. Sessions 
  • 12:00 p.m. to 12:55 p.m. Lunch
  • At 1:00 p.m. all staff will meet in their Job Alike for vertical and horizontal curriculum discussions or pre-determined topics.

Enhancing Opportunities for Engaging With the Science and Engineering Practices
Limited Capacity seats available

Participants in this session will have the opportunity to explore several of the 8 science and engineering practices in the MA K-12 STE Framework and how to design classroom experiences that support students in developing these practices.  Participants will have time to apply their learning by modifying/outlining a lesson or experience that addresses an STE standard at their grade level. The target audience is Grades 6 - 12 teachers.  However, teachers at other grade levels are welcome.

Using Science Notebooks to Capture Students’ Thinking
Limited Capacity full

Science notebooks are a great way to incorporate inquiry and literacy into science and engineering.  Participants in this session will explore the use of science notebooks in helping students express their thinking, synthesize science ideas, and communicate their work with the science and engineering practices. The session is open to both current users of science notebooks and those who wish to implement them as a regular part of the science and engineering classroom.
Teachers in grades K-5 are the target audience.  However, teachers from other grade levels are welcome.

NAEYC's Accreditation system is a major part of the efforts to improve and maintain quality in early childhood education. New knowledge gained over the last decade has deepened the understanding, of how to provide the best learning experiences for young children and their educators by meeting national standards of quality. NAEYC continues to revise and refine ideas about how to promote every child’s optimal development and learning. Learn how the system has changed and how you can document criteria and your best practices in an online system. Teachers working in accredited classrooms will have the opportunity to begin or update their online portfolios.
